Buddhist Chanted prayers
Meditation is concentrating the mind on a virtuous object. In chanted prayers we ask for blessings and wisdom to purify our mind and gather positive energy to overcome our delusions.
We have regular chanted prayer sessions at KMCA. Chanted prayers are called 'pujas' and there are booklets (called 'sadhanas') where you can follow the prayers and - if you like - sing along. No experience is neccesary and all the pujas are free. Please check before attending as times may vary.
Wishfulfilling Jewel (WFJ)
Offering to the Spiritual Guide (OSG)
Melodious Drum Victorious in all Directions (Kangso)
Wishfulfilling Jewel (WFJ) - Offerings and requests to Je Tsongkhapa, the Wisdom Buddha, and Dorje Shugdan, his Dharma Protector. WFJ takes about an hour.
WFJ is held every day at the temple, usually at 7.30pm unless there is a class scheduled that evening, at which case it is held at 12noon.
Every Saturday at 7.3opm there is WFJ with Tsog (food offerings). This is a time for everyone involved with the centre to come together and celebrate our great good fortune. You are welcome to bring a food offering, whatever your favourite treat might be, and offer it to the Buddhas. This is a source of good karma. There is an informal get together aftwerwards which everyone is welcome to attend.
Offering to the Spiritual Guide (OSG) - Extensive offerings and requests to Je Tsongkhapa, the Wisdom Buddha, with prayers to Dorje Shugdan immediately afterwards.
OSG is held on the 10th and 25th of every month, and on these days there is no WFJ. It is a Tsog puja, with food offerings to the Buddhas and an informal get together afterwards. You are welcome to attend and bring a food offering. OSG lasts for an hour and three quarters.
Usually held at 7.30pm, on teaching days it is most often held at 2pm. Please call 9756 7203 to check.
Tara Puja - Prayers and praises to Tara, the female Buddha of swift compassion and great wisdom. Tara is our spiritual mother and when we ask her for help she acts swiftly and decisively. Tara Puja is held on the 8th of every month at 2pm.
Melodious Drum Victorious in all Directions (Kangso) - Very extensive offerings and requests to Dorje Shugdan, the Dharma Protector of our tradition. It lasts for about four hours. Kangso (the Tibetan name for the puja) is held on the 29th of every month. It is a Tsog puja, with food offerings to the Buddhas and an informal get together afterwards.
